ABOUT ME

I am a bilingual Latinx licensed Clinical Psychologist providing services online or over the phone in private practice to adolescents and adults in the state of California. I am an LGBTQ2s+ affirmative and identified therapist.

If you are reading this, you may be considering giving counseling or psychotherapy services a try with me. Identifying that you may need some support can be a hard reality so congratulations on making this first step.

What do I believe therapy is all about? I view therapy as a safe space that facilitates a healthier mind and body connection.

I work from a health psychology framework where I address standard mental health concerns within the context of other aspects of health including but not limited to developmental issues, stress, medical illness, nutrition, sleep patterns, physical activity, and the impact of spiritual belief systems where appropriate. I may also consider your particular relationship style and how that may be contributing to your concerns.

At our initial point of contact, I will ask a few questions about what you might want to work on, discuss what therapy may look like with me as your provider and what might be the best fit for your particular needs.

In my practice, I work with you on developing a quality therapeutic relationship that addresses your goals head on. From my experience, I find that one of the key components that makes for a successful therapeutic relationship and treatment regardless of specific technique is a sense of safety.

How I help foster a sense of safety for you:

  1. By extending kindness, an open-mind and nonjudgmental approach.

  2. Holding space to talk about the hard things such as events of your past/present, our therapeutic relationship or even social justice and cultural issues to name a few.

  3. Remaining collaborative, inviting feedback and being open to conversation about how therapy is going for you.

  4. Making sure we are on the same page about what we are working on together.

  5. Not pushing my own agenda and making sure you are receiving the services specific for your individual needs even if that means making a referral to a different therapist if we might not be the best fit.

  6. And of course keeping your information confidential and private.

At the end of the day, I meet you where you are "at" in life with an open mind and strive to provide you with supportive guidance on your unique wellness journey.

Please feel free to email me or call me to schedule a free phone consultation so that we can get to know each other a little before we schedule a meeting.
